How much notice would you give

I am closing down doing daycare at the end of February and am trying to figure out when to give the the daycare parents notice. We have been really working at paying down all of our bills and getting to where I can finacially afford to stay home and now we are there. But, I really want my daycare families to stay with me at least through January to build up a better safety net. I would be willing to work a few weeks into March if a parent couldn't find good care before that for their child. BTW, I have ALL good parents who respect and appreciate me. I want to do the right thing for them, but didn't want to give them too much notice and lose them before Jan.

Do you think giving parents notice the first week of January that I am closing at the end of Feb. is enough time? (most of my kids are over 18 months so they aren't in the infant category for licencing)

My thought with them giving notice was that I thought that if they give notice in January, they still need to do 2 weeks notice, but if it is in February, I will forgo any needed notice. Do you think this is fair?

I can't wait to take this step for my family and my own personal happiness (no more 11 hour days!) but feel so guilty leaving all of these people in a lurch (three of my daycare families started w/ me in March after their old provider moved and closed down).
